CEREC

What is a CEREC Crown?

CEREC is the acronym for CEramic REConstruction and is a sophisticated system of designing and making high quality, metal-free dental restorations in one visit. Developed in 1980 at the University of Zurich, CEREC has evolved to utilize 3D streaming video intra oral camera and CAD/CAM technology to assist a dentist in designing a virtual restoration (onlay, inlay, and crowns). Without taking messy dental impressions, a CEREC crown can be made while you wait chairside.

What are the Advantages and Benefits to a CEREC Crown?

Convenience - We are able to do same-day restorations on almost all procedures. Unlike traditional dental crowns, which require two visits, we can customized a crown while you wait.

Comfort - Since the crown is placed the day the tooth is prepared, there's no need for multiple visit with "shots" of dental anesthesia and no need to wear a temporary crown between appointments. In addition, there's no need for the messing impressions and moldings of your teeth.

Composition - The crowns are metal free. They are made of high-quality ceramic and look completely natural. Unlike conventional porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns, a dark line from a metal foundation will never show at your gumline.

Precision - CAD/CAM technology uses 3-D digital images of your teeth produced by optically scanning your teeth. The computer then creates a dental restoration that precisely fits over your natural tooth and perfectly fits into your bite for maximum protection and comfort.
